IAEA chief: Iran to stop IAEA 27 surveillance cameras

London, IRNA – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi confirmed on Thursday that Iran is going to deactivate IAEA's 27 surveillance cameras at its nuclear sites.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Grossi said that Iran is going to deactivate 27 surveillance cameras at its nuclear sites and he has informed the IAEA BoG about the issue.

He noted Iran has said it will stop 27 surveillance cameras at different nuclear sites from today.

He further noted that the cameras were installed beyond the Safeguards Agreement, adding that Iran will keep in place 40 cameras that are installed according to the Safeguards Agreement.

Grossi called on Tehran to continue cooperation with the IAEA and not to get further away from the nuclear watchdog.

Earlier, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced that Iran has deactivated two of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) cameras installed beyond safeguards.

AEOI noted that so far the Islamic Republic of Iran has out of goodwill had extensive cooperation with the Agency, which has not been appreciated.

So, AEOI decided that from today, the activities of beyond safeguards cameras of the measuring On-Line Enrichment Monitor (OLEM) and flowmeter to be deactivated, it added.

It noted that of course, more than 80% of the cameras available by the agency are safeguards cameras that will continue to operate.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has blasted the anti-Iran resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors, saying that the move will yield no results but weaken the country’s cooperation with the agency.

In the statement, the Ministry said that the resolution had been prepared following a hasty and unbalanced report by the IAEA director general and based on fabricated information provided by the Zionist regime.
